More Construction

Construction is scheduled to begin within the next two weeks on the Wilson Hill causeway.  It will occur on the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) side, about opposite from the orange curved pipe.  This is part of the habitat improvement program for the WMA that was negotiated during the NYPA relicensing.

There will be a pump house here to help regulate water levels in the east and west pools. This is being done to alleviate some of the environmental damage being done by the abnormal seasonal water level fluctuations.  They will open a portion of the guard rails on the west side, build a small coffer dam around the area and then put in a concrete pad for the pump house.  There may also be a small service parking area on the pad.

Traffic will be controlled, but at no time should the causeway be closed.

Ongoing Road Work

As you know, the Town has begun working on repairing Wilson Hill roads.  The large stones have been dug out and they have started putting in drainage pipe under the road where needed.  They will also be cleaning out the ditches so that when they cut the shoulders on both sides the water can run freely into empty, unencumbered ditches.  Therefore, it is important we not put our organic material such as raked leaves, branches, clippings, etc., in the ditches.
